At the start of this our first season in Division 2, we had no real idea of what to expect in terms of standard, nor of where we would find ourselves in relation to that standard. Avoiding relegation was the first goal. So with a final position in the central pack of teams, and an overall winning ratio of 42% of games played, I think we can be well pleased. Everybody, regular players and substitutes, contributed to this effort, but the real driver was the performance of our ladies pairs, with a 54% win rate. The pairing of Jenny and Beckie won a staggering 82% of the games they played – performance like this puts them at the top of the whole division, and amply demonstrates why they were selected to represent Division 2 in the Consterdine Trophy.

Not a bad first season for the newly formed team. We competed extremely well in the majority of the matches however some under-par performances at the end of the season ended our hopes of finishing higher in the league. But all in all, a satisfactory debut. Definately something to build on for next year. Thanks to all those who stepped up to fill in for absentees (and there were a few of you!).

Well done to all that played on the team over the season. We had a really good season only loosing one match. We won the League with a whooping 180 points, and finished 17 points clear of our nearest rivals which were Dome.

So we are going to be promoted to Division 1 of the SMBL league and face a more difficult season in 2009/10.

Fingers crossed that our team also get the bestman and bestlady awards for the Division
